Have you ever thought of giving self-care and wellness gifts when a gift is needed? Items in these categories make great gifts, especially for someone that is interested in things like cleansing, aromatherapy or meditation, just to name a few things.
I absolutely love, love, love giving gifts. What could be better than watching someone’s face while they open a gift; especially if they like the gift.
Of course, the hard part is deciding on what to get someone and then hoping they will like it. I try to get someone a gift that is personal for them in some way. There is a much better chance the receiver of the gift will like it.
To help with gift giving for you and myself, I’ve put together a list of possible gifts by several categories. This should help in determining if the receiver of your gift will like it. The categories I’m suggesting are geared toward wellness for body, mind, soul and home.

The Mind For Self-Care and Wellness
Books
If you know your gift receiver is a reader, then know that this gift is right up their alley. You just need to determine which genre they like to read. Mystery, romance, nature, cops and robbers, etc.
And don’t forget about audio books; especially if your receiver spends a lot of time stuck in traffic or traveling.
The Body For Self-Care and Wellness Gifts
There are so many things that you can gift to someone related to and for our body that there are too many to name, but I have a few suggestions.
Classes
You could get someone that is thinking about trying yoga (a current trend) a gift card toward a yoga class that they have been wanting to try. A yoga mat would also be a nice gift. Both gifts would be great for anyone in your life that you know does yoga or wants to try it.
Light Therapy or “SAD” Lamp (Seasonal Affective Disorder)
Know someone that gets the winter blues? A SAD lamp could be a big help for them.
These lamps are for those affected by long winter days with little sunshine or those that live in the more northern climates—again with little sunshine.
The lamps are used for 30-45 minutes a day to help the user feel better from the lack of sunshine. They make a wonderful gift for someone that would like one, but doesn’t want to spend the money on themselves.
Blankets
I’m listing blankets as a good gift but more specifically two types of blankets that are very trendy right now. One is the fuzzy blanket and the other is a “weighted” blanket.
If you know someone that loves cuddling under a blanket to watch a good movie, the fuzzy blanket would be an excellent gift.
The weighted blanket would be a good gift for someone that you know likes to sleep with a more heavier blanket on their beds.
The Soul For Self-Care and Wellness Gifts
Music
There are very few people that don’t like music, so this is a pretty good gift to give someone. You just have to know what kind of music someone likes, get a few cd’s and there is your gift.
Or if you’d rather, you can fill a nice little basket with musical items such as ear buds, a cd or two, and a gift card to Spotify or iTunes.
Depending on who the gift is for; another idea for the basket is a nice bottle of wine, a romantic cd or two and some chocolates and fruit.
Incense, Sage or Candles
All three of these things make terrific gifts for those that meditate on a regular basis. All three item also have other uses. Incense and candles, of course, all help scent your home. Sage is usually used to cleanse your home of negative energy.
Who doesn’t like coming into a candle scented home that has added to a cozy and relaxing atmosphere? Scents tend to remind us of good memories.
Journal
Many write in journals if not on a daily basis, at least, frequently. So, they are always in need of the next empty journal that they can fill up to their heart’s desire.
Wellness
Planner
A planner could actually go in other categories, like “home” for instance. I chose to put it here for those avid fitness buffs you may know. They like to keep track of what they are doing, how many steps have been taken or what exercises to do on what days, etc.
What better place to keep this information than a yearly, monthly and daily planner? Many of them have places now to keep track of your wellness needs, including glasses of water for the day! A planner for your fitness buff would be greatly appreciated.
Portable Blender
A powerful blender that a wellness buff may not want to splurge on for themselves would therefore makes a great gift. It would also save the receiver money by being able to make their yummy smoothies or bullet coffee at home rather than getting them at their local shops. Its also easy enough to take along to have handy during the day if they want a smoothie or coffee at work.
Crystals or Essential Oils
If you know someone that is into alternative wellness or natural healing, either of these two items would make an excellent gift.
Crystal Beginner Kit: Determine which type of kit, your receiver would like. You can find kits with crystals for all kinds of different things and healing.
A black onyx crystal is said to bring stability in life along with deflecting negative energy. An amethyst has strong properties for cleansing and healing power.
For instance, you can definitely find crystals for our chakras. These kit contain a crystal for each of the seven chakras. There are also kits with crystals that can be used during meditation.
Know someone that loves jewelry? They may like their crystals in the form of wearable jewelry. A chakra crystal bracelet or mala bracelet would be well received by someone interested in jewelry.
A mala bracelet is used during meditation and/or prayers, both for chakras and for counting mantras or as an intention reminder.
And look at this pretty gratitude bracelet (#15). These are worn to remind the wearer to shift their attention back to gratitude, love and the light of the Divine found in us all.
Essential oils can have all kinds of uses for the receiver. They can be made up into lotions, help with headaches or backaches or help make your home less toxic when cleaning. Or you can add a few dops of lavendar to a diffuser like this one to help you sleep.
Home For Self-Care and Wellness Gifts
Houseplants
These makes excellent gifts for someone that you know that doesn’t have a green thumb and therefore may not have many plants in their home.
Plants such as ferns or succulents are great for this reason. Or you may know an amateur gardner that would love another plant or flower.
Houseplants help to purify the air around them. See my post on houseplants.
Himalayan Salt Lamp
These are very very trendy today with good reason. Because these lamps are hygroscopic, which means they attract water molecules from the air. This causes the lamps to collect dirt and pollen particles being carried in water vapor. The lamp cleans these things up and releases clean water back into the air in a purifying effect.
Benefits of these lamps include: air purification, reducing anxiety and cancels out positive ions such as pet dander, dust and mold spores (allergy causes).
But you want to make sure you actually get a real himalayan salt lamp. Because of all the salt in the lamp, your lamp should not illuminate a whole room. The glow is much softer.
A true salt lamp may do a little bit of sweating, especially if near moisture.
It’s also fragile and little pieces may break off, if bumped. If it doesn’t, it may not be real. And lastly, if it doesn’t taste like salt, it probably isn’t!
Quotes
I’m a reader, so therefore, I love words. And I love the trend of personalizing all kinds of things with sayings, or pictures or the wall decals and framed quotes that can be found these days. Many are inspirational, some are funny, while others are motivational or show positivity.
These can be found in all types of styles to suit the home of anyone you may want to give one to as a gift.
Personalized Prints
One of my absolute, all-time favorite gifts was a pillow one of my friends gave me. She had taken pictures of my kids and my buddy Bear (our adored miniture poodle) and had the prints put on a pillow. When I opened it, it brought tears to my eyes. Proof that something like this makes a great gift.
Another idea—framed prints from a good party or a family outing or vacation that you and your gift receiver were involved in together. Several smaller prints would make a great wall collage and gift for anyone and their home.
Don’t be shy; share prints of photos you have taken when you know it will make someone very happy. In this digital age, many of us don’t have our photos printed out as frequently as we used to. Chances are your friend, family or co-worker, etc. will be glad you didn’t forget.
There are many good sites that can do this for you. Of course, you have your local CVS, Walgreens or Walmart and Target. But, if you are like me, I do many things online and I frequent sites like freeprints, zazzle and photowall.
Final Thoughts
As I said at the being, I love giving gifts. It’s one of those things I truly enjoy in life.
One last idea for gifts is to keep your ears open throughout the year when someone says they wished they had something in particular. Write the object they want down in your planner so that you can come back to it when it’s time for a gift for that person. This will ensure that they like the gift you have given them making it that much easier for you to come up with something as a gift.
Happy gift hunting!!
Stay Awesome!
