I enjoyed every one of the Monday Movies V2, I’ve reviewed this past month.  Being a movie watcher, I deem a movie good if it’s one that I could watch again.  Each of these movies I could definitely watch a second time.  And I have watched one or two of the featured movies twice.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

HITSVILLE;  MAKING OF MOTOWN

Absolutely loved this movie!!  Seriously, anyone that knows what Motown is will love this movie too.

Making of Motown starts with Barry Gordy at a very young age selling newspapers and realizing what it’s like to make money and knowing he wanted more.  By age 15 or 16, he began writing songs and decided he wanted to run a music company.  And Motown was born.

The company had very humble beginnings in Detroit and didn’t move from the “neighborhood” for a good many years.  Instead, Barry chose to continue buying one house after another and move one or two departments to the new house as his company grew.  It kept everything and everyone in the neighborhood.

One of his first proteges was Smoky Robinson.  The two are still friends to this day.  And let me tell you, if you like this kind of music, you are in for a treat.  This movie is filled with tons of tidbits about Motown along with lots of good tunes that will make you want to get up and twist and shout!

This movie is worth watching just to hear the music including the younger crowd.  Unless they don’t like listening to the story of Motown because the movie doesn’t have all the action audiences seem to crave these days.

I loved it and will no doubt watch it again.  Highly recommended.

 THE LOFT

Now ladies, this movie has some definite nice eye candy.  That’s what I have to say first—what can I say.  I can appreciate a nice-looking man as much as the next woman.  Wentworth Miller, Karl Urban and James Marsden are just a few of the cast.

Now, on to the movie….

Five men talk themselves into renting a loft together, to do whatever they want to do on their assigned night.  Let the fun and problems begin.  Men, take note; something you may have always dreamed about may not be as great at ya think.

The first scene starts with someone falling from several stories up and landing on a car.  You can’t tell if it’s a man or woman and all you see after the fall is a gloved hand.  Then the movie goes back a year so we can find out what has transpired up until this point.

It really doesn’t take long to see that these men have themselves in one big-ass pickle.  Someone is dead. There is a full scale whodonit going on.  Of course, all five men are blaming the murder on one of the others with no agreement on who nor what to do about it.  Lots of  fighting among themselves.

It sounds like a typical murder mystery, but it’s actually pretty good.  I have to admit, I didn’t realize who did what, until close to the end.  That’s because there are enough unexpected twists and turns that you change your mind several times throughout the movie.  The only hint I’ll give—steer clear of the most obvious.

This is definitely a grown-up kinda movie.  You may want to keep the kids under 12 away because of a few steamy scenes, but aside from that I think the subject matter would be over their heads—even a younger teen wouldn’t admit it.

BATMAN BEGINS

Can you tell yet that I like all kinds of movies—if its good, I like to watch it.  Although I have to admit, I never just sit and watch—I’m always doing something else while watching like sewing, reading or writing posts 😉.

This is one movie I would not have chosen to watch, but my daughter wanted to give it a try, so me being the mother that I am, I agreed 😊.   And I was surprised because I told her at the end that we should watch the other two in this trilogy.

At times this movie is dark like so many of the Batman movies are.  But what I like about this movie is it gives us a story line on how Batman grew up.  Very sad, but like all of us, our younger lives are what helped make us who we are today.

So, while Bruce Wayne (played by Christian Bale) is very rich, he grows up lonely and quits college and goes off on his own, coming back a different type of man than he expected.

Batman is joined by several other superheroes and the fun begins.  One of the first orders of business is to find Superman and bring him back to life and then begin to clean up Gotham City while working to hold onto Wayne Enterprises.

This makes for a pretty good family movie if the kids are at least 13ish or you don’t mind them seeing some occasional violence that is really just the bad and good guys fighting.  No blood and gore.  Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine are just few other actors you’ll see in this movie.

AQUAMAN

The special effects, for this movie, reminds me of the movie Avatar.  And it’s just as good.

I couldn’t stop watching this movie even though I had also been trying to work.  And it’s not because the scenery (Jason Momoa) was so nice to look at.  You’ll also see Nicole Kidman, Patrick Wilson and Willem Defoe.  Can you imagine if there truly was an Atlanta that was lost thousands of years ago where people could actually live underwater.  How cool would that be?

A war between the worlds where those living beneath the ocean would most definitely win in a clash with us mere mortals.  We wouldn’t stand a chance; mortals still don’t know how to talk to the animals while those that live under the seas can command the animals that live there.

This movie is a fantasy, but worth at least one watch for most older than the age of say 13.  Younger than that should be at the discretion of the parents only because of all the “wars” and fighting that goes on in this movie.

These movies were my pick for this past month and like I said, I enjoyed everyone of them.  It was good downtime spent with my family.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

Stay Awesome

Cher
