I think most women would agree that it doesn’t matter your age, we all like to look and feel our best. So, I’m sharing some of the best affordable online shops for the over 40 woman.
Our clothing style should reflect how we feel. There’s no age limit on this. As a matter of fact, it has nothing to do with how old you are, and most women over 40 would agree.
Style and fashion is all about your attitude and feeling good in the clothing you wear. There is nothing better than walking around in an outfit that you feel good in. When this happens your confidence just shines.
The important thing is finding clothes that make you feel that way and that work for your body and compliment your style.
From experience, I know that as our bodies and our lifestyles change, our personal style for clothing may also change. But Lord help me, that doesn’t mean, as we get older, we should start dressing like our grandmothers in frumpy or shapeless clothing.
We can still show off our personal style. We can still take some risks with current trends, have some fun and still enjoy the way we look in our clothes.

Out of The Dark Ages
For the most part, clothing retailers have come out of the dark ages. When I was younger, it was hard for someone like me to find the little cutsie clothes that my friends were able to wear. And it was mainly because I had a bit more going on in the chest area and I was curvy.
Even though I only weighed 130 lbs., this made it very hard, for me to find tops that didn’t look like my granny would wear. At least that’s how it felt to me.
And as far as jeans went, I could find my size, but I’m also short and back then there was no such thing as a large/petite. So many times, I’d try on jeans or slacks and the waist would be almost up to my chest. Thank God, petites for curvy women are easier to find these days.
My point is, whether you have already defined your style or are just starting out on your fashion journey, you can find, just about anything you need or want from today’s clothing retailers, no matter your age or size. Keep reading for the best affordable online shops for the over 40 woman.
Most retailers have come to realize that they need to offer clothing that is stylish, offer large selections that are made for women’s bodies, and typically offer inclusive sizes.
I love saving money, so I love finding deals online. Because of this, I’m going to share some of the affordable online places I love to shop.
Things I Look For When Shopping Online
*Does the shopping e-tailer of a wide variety of trendy selections.
*Does the e-tailer offer plus sizes.
*Do they offer Paypal at checkout time.
*Do they offer free shipping (this is a biggie for me.)

Online Shopping Seems Time-Consuming
I like convenience so online shopping is right up my alley. But when I first started, it seemed very time-consuming to me. And it could be frustrating.
I could find something I liked, but if I continued shopping, I couldn’t remember the first item that I liked so I could buy it. I usually didn’t want to take the time to look again, so I’d end up with nothing.
Tip One
I got around that small problem by just adding anything I might be interested in purchasing into my cart. It doesn’t mean I was going to purchase everything I put there, but it gives me the opportunity to look at everything all together that I may purchase. I can compare which items I like best and remove the ones I don’t want.
I love doing this. If I’m looking for a pair of blue work slacks, I can look at the two or three pairs I put in the cart and compare the prices, the colors and decide which pair would fit me best and that I like best. Then I just remove the pairs I don’t want.
No more trying to remember the pieces I like as I was looking through the site. And cuts down on time.
So Easy
It’s just so easy to shop online these days and online shopping has become even more popular since the pandemic. It’s easy and your purchases come right to your door. The shopping can be done at 2:00 am in your pj’s if you want. But is it really time consuming?
Originally, I thought online shopping took up too much time and I didn’t want to sit still long enough to do the shopping. That is until I thought about the time it would take driving to different local stores trying to find what I was specifically looking for.
I mean really, the perfect pair of gray boots or white top are neccessities, right? And I admit, if I had something in mind I was looking for, that’s what I did. Drive to different places to look. Until I realized how easy online shopping is and I discovered something else.
Tip Two
Use the “filter” button. For instance, recently I was looking at rugs for my bedroom. I wanted at least and 8’x10’ rug with blue colors. I used to just start looking through all the pages of available rugs hoping to come across one that I liked.
But by using the “filter” button I can just enter what I’m looking for and “wala”; I get lots of choices specifically geared to what I’m looking for. And the best part—I didn’t have to leave my home and go from one store to the next.
Many of you like to use cashback sites when you shop online. Unfortunately, there are times that you get to the end and are ready to buy, only to realize you didn’t start your “shopping trip” using the cashback portal. Or worse yet, you completed your purchase and then realize you were not in the portal.
Tip Three
This only works if you haven’t hit the complete/submit order button when you realize you were not in the portal.
Simply pull out your phone and snap a picture of your complete order. Then you can log into your cashback portal, pull up the place you were shopping and quickly re-enter your items from the pic on your phone.
This way you don’t have to try and remember and re-find all the items you wanted, and your cash back is not lost.
Now that I’ve shared some of my tips, lets get down to the good stuff—where to shop!!
Because retailers are becoming more aware that women over 40 care about style, clothing that helps you look confident is only a click away.
For me, I’ve gotten to the age that I feel I don’t need to follow trends as closely as I used to. And I know that a
clothing trend usually last about 4-5 years. This lets me choose one or two trendy pieces and instead go for the more affordable fashion options.
For many of the online shoppes below the focus is more on young women, but there is still plenty for the over 40 crowd as well. Let’s get started…..
Berrylook
ZULILY
Zulily, hands down, is one of my favorite places to shop. With this online store, its almost like you have a whole mall of stores in this one online shop.
To name just a few of the “shops” you’ll find through Zulily are: Martha Stewart, Bali, Harry and David, Disney, Ariat and Uggs.
I’m not into name brands, so I don’t pay much attention to that aspect of shopping. But I can give you an idea of the variety of things I’ve gotten from Zulily.
Cuisinart pots and pans, home décor, rugs, shoes galore, accessories, kitchen items, swimsuits, dresses, tops, sheets, etc.
Pros of shopping with Zulily
*I can make a wishlist.
*Can indicate which shops are my favorite.
*Zulily keeps track of items you are interested in but might not be available at the time you want to purchase. When and/or if these items become available again, Zulily will let you know and you can decide then if you are still interested in the item. I’ve used this perk many, many times.
Cons:
*Shipping is not free; however, the shipping fee you just got charged on your order today can be used on any orders you place for the next 24 hours.
*Pay attention to where your purchases are coming from. This isn’t Amazon so you may need to adjust your thinking and realize you may not get your item for a month depending on where its being shipped from. This doesn’t bother me as long as I realize it ahead of time.

Helpful Tips:
*Always, always check the size chart. Don’t just assume your usual size will fit as each company has their own idea of sizes.
*Stick with what styles you know work for you. There will be less chance of having to return something.
Final Thoughts
Shopping online give us more benefits than just easy and hassle-free. You can use wish lists on several sites, you can bookmark your favorite sites and most of these companies will keep your information on file.
This saves tons of time making it possible for a quick purchase. Many of these sites offer payment through PayPal, which means you won’t have to go find your purse to pull out a credit card.
With online shopping, we basically have the world at the end of our fingertips. Shopping online is almost magical. You can sit on your bed, in front of the tv, late at night with a glass of wine, do your shopping online and if paying with Paypal, you don’t have to get up.
Instead, shopping is done, you can finish your wine, turn off the light and nestle down to dream of all the goodies you just purchased.
Stay Awesome!
